Intoxalock charges lockout fees to customers for car alcohol monitoring device failures when customers state the devices fail in cold weather and cause battery and alternator failures.

Intralock is a maker of car alcohol monitoring devices with annual revenues exceeding $68 Million

Customers allege Intralock car alcohol monitoring devices fail in cold weather and cause battery and alternator failures. Intoxalock customers who experience failures are then charged a $75 “lockout fee” for each occurrence. Some customers report being charged multiple lockout fees per month.

Intoxalock states the car alcohol monitoring devices have a sleep mode that stops battery drain, but customers report failures after engaging the sleep mode feature.

In October 2018, an Intoxalock lawsuit alleged the company charged excessive early termination and account fees.
