De’Aaron Fox, an NBA star for the Sacramento Kings built a NFT project called SwipaTheFox. The project made promises like a chance to win a metaverse basketball court, a college scholarship, chances to win all-star gaming tickets, and much more. All these rewards were put in place so his fans would purchase the NFT’s. Fox collected $1.5 million in NFT sales, and then abandoned the project on February 23rd.

There was a similar class action lawsuit against Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather by investors for an alleged crypto scam. The lawsuit states that they artificially inflated the price of the cryptocurrency EthereumMax. They made false or misleading statements and now the investors are labeling it as a “pump and dump” scheme.
