Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that provides subscribers with a makeup bag full of cosmetics. The products include skincare items, perfumes, nail and skin products, and makeup products. They’re headquartered in San Mateo, California.
Subscribers claim that Ipsy falsely advertises their products. For example, Ipsy advertised that the Addison Rae glam bag would include a black croc makeup bag, a Pat McGrath lip gloss, an eyeshadow palette, and an ABH eyebrow gel. But for some, the bag didn’t come with any of those items. In another case, Ipsy advertised that customers would receive full-sized products, but Ipsy then reclassified a deluxe size sample as a full-size product. Customers have also accused Ipsy of falsely advertising how many products come inside the subscription bag.
Ipsy doesn’t offer refunds or exchanges for Ipsy beauty memberships; they will only replace anything missing or damaged. As a result, most customers never receive the products they wanted or get their money back, so they ultimately cancel their subscription.
There was a similar class action lawsuit against L’Oreal. The lawsuit states that L’Oreal representations regarding its products’ skin-firming and anti-aging benefits are false and misleading.
