Beginning in March 2022, several customers of the pet products company Chewy began reporting unauthorized charges through their Chewy accounts for pet supplies that they had not purchased (often for animals they did not own). Reports of unauthorized charges range from as early as March 16, to as recently as May 8.
Chewy has not acknowledged the issue.
Chewy’s terms of use has a mandatory binding arbitration provision and class action waiver.
Target settled a similar class action lawsuit for $10m in 2015 over a data breach that led to some customers’ payment details being compromised, among other issues.
